- Glycerine & Sorbitol — powerful humectants that draw moisture into the skin and lock it in

How to Use
Cut base into small cubes. Melt in a microwave (30-second bursts) or double boiler. Once melted, cool slightly to 60–65°C before adding fragrance, colour, or additives (up to 2–3% by weight). Pour into moulds and allow to set at room temperature. Unmould after 1–2 hours. Wrap in shrink wrap or cling film immediately to prevent sweating.
Ideal For
Luxury body bars, dry and mature skin formulations, winter skin care soaps, hotel amenities, artisan soap making, and clean beauty product lines.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What makes the Shea Butter base different from the Goat Milk base?
A: The Shea Butter base is richer in fatty acids (stearic and oleic) making it especially suited for very dry, mature, or eczema-prone skin where deep lipid replenishment is needed. The Goat Milk base has real milk proteins and lactic acid, which are better for brightening and sensitive skin. Both are sulphate free and can be blended together in any ratio.
Q: Is this base suitable for dry and eczema-prone skin?
A: Yes. Shea butter is widely recognised for its anti-inflammatory and skin barrier-restoring properties, making this base a good choice for dry, flaky, or reactive skin types. We recommend keeping fragrance additions minimal (below 1%) for eczema-prone skin.
Q: Will the shea butter affect the lather of the soap?
A: Shea butter is a high-fat ingredient that naturally moderates foam — you will get a creamy, skin-conditioning lather rather than a high-volume bubbly foam. If higher lather is important, you can blend up to 30% transparent glycerine base into your batch.
Q: What fragrances and colours can I use with this base?
A: Any cosmetic-grade melt and pour fragrance oil at up to 2–3%. For colours, use soap-safe liquid colours or micas at 0.1–0.5%. Because the base is opaque white, it works especially well with pastel and earthy tones.
Q: How many soap bars does 1 kg make?
A: Approximately 8–10 bars of 100 g each, depending on your mould size and any additives.
Q: Can I add extra shea butter to increase the shea content?
A: Adding raw shea butter beyond the base formulation can cause separation and affect bar hardness. Instead, you can add shea butter fragrance oil or a small amount (0.5–1%) of refined shea butter, stirred in thoroughly just before pouring.
Q: Does this base sweat or develop condensation?
A: Like all glycerin melt and pour bases, it can attract moisture in humid conditions. Wrap finished bars in shrink wrap or airtight cling film immediately after setting — especially during India's monsoon months.
Q: Can I add turmeric, sandalwood, or herbal powders?
A: Yes. Add herbal powders at 0.5–2% just before pouring. The creamy white base shows off earthy botanicals like sandalwood powder, multani mitti, or oatmeal particularly well.
Q: Is this base vegan?
A: Yes — shea butter is plant-derived (from the shea tree, Vitellaria paradoxa), and no animal-derived ingredients are used. This base is fully vegan.
Q: What is the minimum order quantity?
A: 1 kg. Bulk pricing is available at 5 kg and 20 kg slabs — see variant options above.
