DIY Lotion
DIY Lotion using just 5 ingredients:
Do you who want to make a simple lotion yet moisturising which is perfect for the summer? You don't have to worry about the ratios and other stuff, follow the steps to make your go-to lotion.
About the ingredients:
- We are using Grapeseed oil which is light yet moisturising for skin. It has a dry skin feel. You can substitute it with Jojoba oil or Sweet Almond Oil.
- For the emulsifier blend, we are going to use Lotion Pro and Cetyl alcohol. Lotion pro is beginner friendly emulsifier. It thickens beautifully when paired with right thickeners.
- Lotionpro is a self-emulsifying, acid-stable emulsifier blend which includes glyceryl stearate and polyoxyethylene stearate (PEG-100 stearate). It forms highly stable oil-in-water emulsions with excellent appearance and feel. It is often used with cetearyl alcohol or other fatty alcohols (as thickeners) in formulations. It helps us to make light serums and lotions which are difficult to achive with other Emulsifiers.
- Water Phase includes only DM water. However couple of other ingredients can be added to make it more moisturising
1. Glycerin 2-5%
2. Allantoin 0.2%
3. DL Panthenol 0.5% - Cool down phase:
Preservative Eco (Benzyl Alcohol, Salicylic Acid, Glycerin, and Sorbic Acid) is a natural broad spectrum preservative.
It is used to protect against bacteria, mold, and yeast. It is a paraben and formaldehyde free mild preservative.
It preserves for a longer shelf life. It is our natural go-to preservative because of its efficacy. Just make sure the pH is below 5.5. You can substitute it with Ases Preserve 9010 at 1%.
- There are couple of extracts that you can add at 0.1-1% for moisturising benefits like
1. Cucumber extract
2. Aloevera extract
3. Green tea extract
4. Calendula extract
5. Honey extract
