Vitamin A Acetate Powder (Dry, 0.5 Million IU/g) — stabilized with BHA-BHT

Vitamin A plays an important role in the body. It is needed for growth and bone development and to maintain the health of the skin and eyesight. Low levels of vitamin A may cause vision problems (such as night blindness) and permanent eye damage. Vitamin A is used to prevent or treat low levels of the vitamin in people who do not get enough of it from their diets. Most people who eat a normal diet do not need extra vitamin A.

• Appearance: Light yellow, free-flowing sandy powder (beadlets), faint odour
• Composition: Vitamin A Acetate on a corn oil, corn starch, gelatin, and sucrose beadlet base, stabilized with BHA-BHT
• Solubility: Practically insoluble in water; in warm water it swells to form an emulsion
• Content of Vitamin A: 475,000–575,000 IU/g (typical result ~500,000 IU/g)
• Loss on Drying: Not more than 5.0%
• Powder Fineness: Not less than 100% through 20 mesh; not less than 60% through 40 mesh; not more than 10% through 100 mesh

• Total Yeast/Mould: Not more than 100 cfu/g

Storage and Handling

• Storage: Cool, dry place, under inert gas (e.g. nitrogen), protected from light
• Shelf Life: 36 months at <15°C in the unopened original container; use within a short period once opened
• Conditions to Avoid: Humidity, light, air, and warming — these cause gradual decomposition
• Materials to Avoid: Copper, copper alloys, iron, iron salts, strong oxidizing agents, peroxides, strong inorganic acids, strong bases
• Handling: Process in closed systems under inert gas; use local exhaust ventilation; avoid dust formation; suitable contact materials are stainless steel, aluminium, enamel, and glass
