How to Use
Cut base into small cubes. Melt in a microwave (30-second bursts) or double boiler. Once melted, cool slightly to 60–65°C before adding fragrance or additives (up to 2–3% by weight). Pour into moulds and allow to set at room temperature. Unmould after 1–2 hours. Wrap in shrink wrap immediately to prevent sweating.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does activated charcoal work in soap?
A: Bamboo charcoal has an extremely porous surface that physically adsorbs (binds to) excess oil, dirt, and environmental pollutants from pores. Unlike harsh chemical exfoliants, it draws out impurities without damaging the skin barrier.
Q: Will this base dry out my skin?
A: No. The base contains glycerine and sorbitol as humectants to retain skin moisture, and Lauryl Glucoside as a mild plant-derived surfactant — ensuring a detoxifying cleanse without the tight, stripped feeling associated with harsh soaps.
Q: Can I add extra activated charcoal powder to boost the effect?
A: Yes. Add cosmetic-grade activated charcoal at 0.5–1% just before pouring. More than 1–2% can make the bar gritty and affect hardness, so test in small batches first.
Q: Do I need to add colour? The bar is already black.
A: The bamboo charcoal powder gives the base its deep black colour naturally — no colourant needed. If you want a charcoal grey instead of black, dilute by blending with up to 30% transparent or white base.
Q: What fragrances pair well with this base?
A: Earthy, woody, and fresh notes work best — cedarwood, tea tree, eucalyptus, peppermint, vetiver, or sandalwood. Add at up to 2–3% after melting and cooling to 55°C.
Q: Is this base suitable for men's grooming bars?
A: Yes — the detox, pore-cleansing action and distinctive black appearance make it highly popular for men's facial bars and body bars. Pair with tea tree or eucalyptus fragrance for a classic men's grooming profile.
Q: How many soap bars does 1 kg make?
A: Approximately 8–10 bars of 100 g each, depending on your mould size.
Q: Does charcoal stain towels or skin?
A: The charcoal is bound within the soap matrix and rinses off cleanly with water. It will not stain skin or towels with normal use.
Q: Is this base vegan?
A: Yes — all ingredients are plant-derived or synthetic. No animal-derived ingredients are used in this base.
Q: What is the minimum order quantity?
A: 1 kg. Bulk pricing is available at 5 kg and 20 kg slabs — see variant options above.
